Here's to the future!

Royal BAM Group celebrates its 150th anniversary this year. Who could have imagined this when we started as a small family business in the Dutch polder village of Groot-Ammers in 1869? Since then, we have achieved a leading position in our five European home markets and selected markets across the globe.

Throughout those 150 years we – together with our partners – have worked with passion and commitment to create impressive buildings and infrastructure that have improved people’s lives. We are very proud of that!

Our way of working is continually adapting to a changing world, in line with the needs of our clients. We place high importance on safety, digitalisation, innovation and sustainability, as is reflected in the interviews with BAM colleagues and the selection of projects on these web pages.

We are marking this jubilee year with a gift to future generations. When my family and I were standing at the foot of a Canadian glacier, which since 1985 had shrunk several kilometres, we were staring in the face of climate change. Talk about a wake-up call… I said to my children: ‘If we don’t do anything, you’ll be standing here in 20 years and there will be no more glacier.’ Everyone, including BAM, has a responsibility to take sustainability very seriously.

And this is why, to celebrate our 150th anniversary, we are planting 150,000 trees in different parts of the world this year. With this gesture to future generations we underline BAM’s mission to realise a sustainable environment. Sustainable in terms of quality for the hundreds of thousands of people who get to use what we build, sustainable in terms of solutions for our clients and sustainable in terms of value creation for our shareholders.

I would like to thank all our employees for their tremendous commitment and dedication, and all our stakeholders for their trust. I wish you all the brightest of futures, together with and supported by BAM!
