'Project controls, a new collaborative field’
My name is Remy Varescon and I am the project controls manager on BAM International’s LNG project in Kitimat, Canada. My current assignment is a great example of the One BAM Values where by using open collaboration we ensure predictable performance.
Multiple disciplines working together to predict performance
Project controls is a relatively new field of expertise that requires knowledge of multiple disciplines (including engineering, commercial and finance) in order to gather and control statistics and ultimately predict the project performance. Daily collaboration with key project members is essential to steer the accurate and timely exchange of information.
I get challenged working for renowned clients such as LNG Canada, who have high demands when it comes to project controls. Numerous stakeholders are involved in the project with no room for errors, making predicable performance a must. In return it is extremely rewarding when such clients recognise BAM as a reputable contractor and praise the processes and procedures within the organisation.
A new standard for BAM companies everywhere?
My main goal is to further develop the field of project controls and demonstrate the added value in daily operations to my colleagues and management. I would like to see this become a standard discipline within all BAM operating companies in the near future.
But ultimately I am proud to work for a company that values its employees and is convinced that we will all get home safe to our family at the end of the day. I have been working for BAM International for almost six years and I have been very fortunate and proud to be part of exciting projects around the world, delivering infrastructures to prestigious clients.
Besides work I look forward to enjoy life abroad together with my wife, and discovering Canada’s unique landscape, culture and traditions.
