Rail bridge Utrecht

The Netherlands

In response to expected passenger growth, extra rail capacity between the cities of Utrecht and Woerden has to be created. The number of tracks will be doubled from two to four between Utrecht Central Station and the Leidsche Rijn station (roughly 2km). To accommodate this, a new rail bridge has been added between the existing rail and road bridges across the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal. A fine example of advanced ‘parallel parking’!
