Sea lock IJmuiden

The Netherlands

After almost a century of service the de Noordersluis sea lock in IJmuiden is due for an overhaul. A new, larger sea lock will improve accessibility of the port of Amsterdam and give a boost to the regional economy by providing access to ever larger ocean vessels regardless of the tides. While business continues as usual in the sea lock, Consortium OpenIJ is building the new lock, which will measure 70 metres in width, 500 metres in length and 18 in depth.
